Team Russia beat forZe to win WESG 2018 Russia

Russia have booked their spot at the WESG 2018 World Finals after defeating FORZE 2-0 (16-13 on Train, 16-14 on Overpass).

Held at the IgroMir Exhibition, in Moscow, the WESG 2018 Russia grand final saw FORZE, who had secured their place at the LAN through the closed qualifier, battle it out against Denis "⁠seized⁠" Kostin's Russia for a spot at the world finals and the lion's share of a $9,000 prize pool.

The series kicked off on Russia's map pick, Train, with FORZE bagging a 2-0 lead as CTs after winning the first pistol. seized and co. eventually took the lead in the gun rounds, but Almaz "⁠almazer⁠" Asadullin's side kept a very tight defence towards the end of the half and went into the break up by three.

WorldEdit was a key figure in Team Russia's victory on Overpass

FORZE further added to their lead in the second half, stringing together the first three rounds to increase their lead to 12-6. After that, however, Russia went on a massive run and lost just a single round before closing out Train.

On Overpass, an ace from Georgi "⁠WorldEdit⁠" Yaskin gave Russia the pistol round and set them up for a 5-0 start. However, FORZE tightened up their defence after that and shut down the star-studded Terrorists to take a 9-6 lead.

Now playing as CTs, Russia won their second pistol of the series and followed that up with the anti-ecos and the first gun round to turn the score around. FORZE picked up the pace after that and took the game to the 30th round, only to fall at the final hurdle as Russia wrapped things up with nothing but pistols.

With this victory, Russia join CyberZen on the team list for the WESG 2018 World Finals, which will be held in March.
